Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about our services and the VA disability claims process.

What is a DBQ evaluation?

A Disability Benefits Questionnaire (DBQ) is a standardized form used by the VA to evaluate veterans' medical conditions. Our licensed medical examiners complete these forms based on thorough examinations, providing the evidence the VA needs to process your claim.

What is a nexus letter and why do I need one?

A nexus letter is a medical opinion from a qualified professional that establishes a connection between your current medical condition and your military service. It's often the critical piece of evidence that can make or break a VA disability claim. Without a nexus letter, the VA may not be able to connect your current condition to your service.

How much does an evaluation cost?

Contact us at 310-571-8904 for current pricing. We're transparent about our fees and will discuss everything during your initial consultation so there are no surprises.

Do I need a referral from my doctor?

No referral is needed. You can contact us directly to schedule your evaluation. We'll review your medical records and service history as part of our comprehensive process.

How long does the process take?

Most evaluations are completed in a single visit. After the evaluation, your completed DBQ and any nexus letters are typically ready within a few business days.

Can you help with claims that have been denied?

Yes. If your claim was denied due to insufficient medical evidence, we can provide a thorough evaluation and proper documentation that addresses the specific deficiencies identified by the VA. Many denied claims are approved on appeal with better documentation.

What conditions do you evaluate?

We evaluate a wide range of service-connected conditions including PTSD and mental health conditions, musculoskeletal injuries, traumatic brain injury (TBI), hearing loss and tinnitus, respiratory conditions, and more. Contact us to discuss your specific situation.

Do you file VA claims for veterans?

We arrange medical professionals that provide evaluations and documentation. We do not file claims or provide legal representation. However, our documentation is designed to meet the VA's requirements and support your claim whether you file yourself or work with a VSO or attorney.

What should I bring to my evaluation?

Bring any relevant medical records, your DD-214, any previous VA decision letters, and a list of conditions you'd like evaluated. The more information we have, the more thorough your evaluation will be.

Do you serve veterans outside of California?

Yes, while our primary service area is California. We also have the ability to arrange examinations for veterans in other states.
